I have programmed robots and used computer related equipment for work for years, but not a clue about mobile stuff. I have been advised to keep away from anything that does not use Windows(it's a system I use on my pc). I wish to access forums like this and maybe post in a similar manner to sending a text on a phone , but adding photo's. I'd like to check my emails as well, do I need a better phone or do I need a tablet? If I buy a tablet, then I'm going to need some sort of sim card like my phone, I use O2, can I still do so, can I use my bt email? Not a clue and asking around sees me surrounded by blank faces

Get a smartphone. Just about everything you do on a tablet you can do with the phone except on a smaller screen and you can't phone from a tablet.

My wife has a Samsung Galaxy which does all that.
Don't worry, be happy.

Any half-decent smartphone will do all that ... and more! I very rarely turn on my laptop at home any more - I do all my email, forum posts, photos, Instagram, Facebook, WFF, BBC News, Internet, eBay shopping, PayPal, Amazon, spreadsheets, Word docs, maps, you name it ..... all on my phone. Get an Android phone, IMO .... and sync up to Google. The only downside is my fingers are too fat, and my eyesight too poor to make sense a lot of the time LOL!

Seems me an 'thee have a lot in common, thanks Alan for your advice also.
