I've just successfully bid 18 quid for a 1960s Alex Martin of Edinburgh 15' split cane dapping rod, built on a Hardy blank.
I broke my shakespeare telescopic dapping rod last year (my second in 3 years).
I'm not usually attracted to vintage tackle but I thought that the extra weight of the split cane won't be an issue with a dapping rod as it will be held vertically anyway and there's no casting.

At 40 quid for a new shakespeare, 18 quid for a lovely old rod can't be bad.

I'm now looking forward to using it on South Uist at the end of the month.

Anyone use something similar?

well done...had i seen that for sale i might have been bidding against you

:D

i'm not into vintage tackle really  having inherited a load of split cane and greenhearts from my father which i can't sell and rarely if ever use...but a dapping rod as you say is a bit different  and should be much more enjoyable to play fish on than the telescopic rods are.

In the ebay posting it was listed as a 'Marec Daping Road'!

I only found it because of a typo...either the seller is dyslexic or he was pished when he posted it.

Both times broke the top section. Once in the car and another on the bank. I lost the rubbery thing that holds it all together and the top section always popped out. Cack-handedness accounted for the breakage.
