Bought these in the middle of August as "dress" shoes, I hate wearing just ordinary shoes :) They are a bit narrow at the toes as I have arthritic nodules on the joints of my big toes, but other than that they seem to be sturdy enough. I have been wearing them on the school run when taking my granddaughter to school, 2 miles round trip, with the occasional 4 to 5 mile walk around the local park too. They are beginning to soften up and I no longer feel them rubbing on the nodules and they feel quite comfortable. If you are looking for a casual walking shoe I would certainly recommend them. I don't know how they would do in the hills, that wasn't what I bought them for, but with the good Vibram sole and tread and being waterproof I would think they would be very good.

My walking pal was complaining  he gets really sore feet these days with hill boots (old age) I'll tell him about those.

Like what Americans call trail shoes, should last quite a while. Craghoppers have very good clothing warranties. Merrel make some good ones too.

I've had a few pairs of Merrel shoes / boots. Very good, comfortable  and hardwearing but also very expensive.

I've got a pair of Merrel's, superb light hill walking shoe that I wear almost every day, been up two Munroe's this year too. Similar price, good that there's some decent choices you can make these days, my old Brashers were crippling to wear.
