I have a picture in my head of a piece of concrete reinforcing bar running up the centre of the rod!!

I make those fly boxes from time to time, and when I can get the timber. They are something a bit different. That one is teak and sycamore.

Did you tie the flies? keep meaning to have a go at some of the simpler ones, like the old patterns, though the modern ones do work of course.

Yes I did, and you should have a go at some of the classics. My first was a blue charm at the beginning of this winter. I'm working on a full winged hock scott at the moment. Last time I tried, I bottled the wing and went for buck tail instead. Could happen again!!
