You need to download Microsoft Reader to be able to use the books. 

You can get if free from .. http://www.microsoft.com/reader/downloads/pc.asp

Sorry, yes - you'll need Reader. It's free, and well worth it 

I use the PDA version a lot, and that's how I read most of these - not on the computer.
