Snipe

Some advice required.
I'm going to order up some fly tying materials.
I fancy tying some spider patterns in paricular and Cookshill sell Snipe wings, Snipe rump hackles and the complete skin.

Which feathers are most suitable for the Snipe and purple.

Bri, as PA says traditionally it's the feathers near the shoulder, but get the whole skin. You get the "correct" feathers and a whole load more to boot. Also to add to the other two already recommended by PA, I'd recommend Golden Plover, simply gorgeous. While you're at it you might as well get a female Partridge skin as well, and a Melanistic Pheasant, and a Grouse skin and a.....  :lol:
Oh and Jackdaw and Magpie scalps too.
