The local pet shop has a very limited range of fish but last time I was in they had some small, very light whitey-silvery coloured corys with no markings. Are these all different species or just regional / environmental variations as is common in trout?

As you may have gathered I know nothing about these fish, in fact when someone mentions 'cory' my mind immediately springs to The Rovers Return.  ;D

Not a lot of fish but they did have some nice little bronze corys

Are they you're favourite?

I've always like cw111, eques and venezuelanus.

I would have thought that sand a bit fine and would pack down and restrict root growth and block the gils of fish. I would go for a courser sand if you don't want gravel.

Quote from: Wildfisher on May 07, 2024, 04:24:00 PMWe have a branch locally under the name of Scottish Fishkeepers, but it's the same bunch.

I see you have one  Coatbridge as well Sandy.

A decent shop (it's within Dobbies Garden Centre) but I was surprised at the price of the fish. Tiny Electric Blue Rams @ £20 each. Is that expensive or am I just out of touch?

We have but it is where I bought two Angel fish that had White Saddle Back Disease that nearly wiped out my Tank. I use Pets at Home which have been OK. I see you have one in Arbroath might be worth a look. These places are only as good as the staff though.

Silver sand. Yes you can use that too. I've used it a few times. But yes it will cloud the water for a day or two when you fill the tank. This isn't a real issue though. You'll have similar with most sands and most gravels too.
