As a child my old next door neighbour's drive always had what I would call sea,weed growing on it "obviously is wan't" but the stuff really looked like it and I have always wondered what it is. The other day I managed to stumble across the stuff.
Does any one know what it is?

Look like 4 x 4 concrete slabs to me. :lol:
It is called a Nostoc which is a bit disputed or discussed anyway in in its classification between being an algae or cyanobacteria.
It is sometimes called Star Jelly in its green form as in years gone by it was thought to come from the sky!! What you have is maybe being affected by frost but there are brown ones and so look up Nostoc jelly and you will get a few photos on line.
