Title: confusion
Post by: flyboy on March 27, 2008, 07:32:42 PM
help me out. ive always been confused, is this correct

point fly= the furthest fly from the rod tip
dropper = middle fly in a team of three
bob fly  = the closest fly to the rod tip

if this is correct is a "top dropper" also known as the fly being closest to the rod tip?
i know this is really basic but if i dont know the basics then im never really going to understand an awfull lot.
thanks

yes you've got it right.the bobfly is the top dropper so called because you can bob it through the waves as you are retrieving.some people use four flies ,then you have three droppers but the point is still furthest away and the bob is still the nearest

cheers Garry
