Had an overnighter at a hill loch two weeks ago and didn't catch anything. By the time I got there I was too tired to fish long anyway :) I have a video that I am trying to edit down from enormous to manageable. I think it is at one hour long at the moment and still has a fair bit to go :)

Me for a start!

Almost June and I have not wet a line. I was absolutely scunnered  with the weather and floods in March and April scuppering my plans, lost the will to fish and just put my limited energies into other things - hence no reports or videos from me.

I very much doubt if I'll fish at all now in 2024, but you never know!

Almost £300 in club memberships wasted - won't be joining any clubs again!  ;D

Perhaps a season off will rekindle my enthusiasm, if not I'll start selling off my gear next year!  ;D

What about you?

Quote from: Jon on Yesterday at 11:28:27 AMI mentioned the python on this thread twice now. And both posts seem to have disappeared???

That's odd,  I've checked the moderation log and nothing has been deleted.

Nature / The Imperative of Breeding

We are having the roof and its drainage completely redone and the house is surrounded by scaffolding with a three man squad clambering about.

Near the driveway is a movement triggered lamp over which I had put a small mesh guard as pigeons had taken a fancy to that as a nest ledge. The sparrows moved in and have been there throughout the year for several years.

Despite the noise and foot traffic and old slates being hurled into a skip 10 feet away the nest is a hive of activity with the birds seemingly entirely oblivious or perhaps completely determined to get on with it!

The scaffolding is being used as fresh perching. See photo 2 below of nest lamp and sparrow by the spar with yellow paint.
Well done the sparrows.

I think the deformed spine has evolved over time. The lump on the front of the face seems to be going down now. I've had the neons close to 3 years now.

The two 18" tanks are set up as quarantine tanks for now, probably they will be used for breading eventually. No frills, no plants at the moment, just some clean terracotta pots for hideouts.

The filter sponges are inside my canister filter being bacterially  conditioned.

Jon's plants are really taking off now and the neons are growing fast! They love brine shrimp.
