That is exactly the sort of forum post that gets the forum a bad name - at least as far as SWMBO is concerned.
"Yet another book of ruddy fishing projects, when you're not fishing or typing pish about it, you're in that ruddy workshop making stuff to go fishing. Exactly how many reels, lures and flies do you need?"
'til a voice as bad as conscience,
rang interminable changes,
on an everlasting whisper,
day and night repeated so-
"Something hidden, go and find it,
Go and look beyond the ranges,
Something lost beyond the ranges,
Lost and waiting for you,
Go."

The number of reels, lures, flies, and forum visits required by any reasonable married angler is directly proportional to the number of times his wife complains about it.  Unreasonable married anglers may require more, especially if they have unreasonable wives! :)

For those among you who are not yet smothered in marital bliss, a cautionary tale................

What does one use, when trying, really excellent flies to dub ?
where may it be obtained, from what , and how? Aye there's the rub,
some flies may well be tied, with fur from various coloured cats,
but by far the better bodies, are those made from common rats.

Also useful are the furs from squirrels moles and shrews,
these will provide essential browns and reds, and even greys and blues,
Water rat and beaver, muskrat, mouse, and water dog,
provide the finest hair and fur which when wetted, will not clog.

Coypu, camel, pig, and hedgehog, and pubic hair, from rams,
Andalusian virgins are also good, (you must remove the wams),
Red bearded beggars, new born seals, and of course great polar bears
all these things you must procure, if you wish to tie with hairs.

Before you venture out at first, to lay up your treasured store,
read lots of ancient angling books, full of arcane lore.
Your stomach must be strong it's true, and your gorge be well controlled
When skinning voles and rats, and mice and cats, you must remain quite cold.

The furs so got, are of the best, and dress the finest flies,
and may be improved even more, by judicious use of dyes,
Picric acid, turmeric, carbol , and urine from an ass,
obtain them all, and store them well, they will all come to pass.

Should you desire at some far future date, the fair sex to espouse,
conceal your horde most carefully, or it may her ire arouse.
Especially the Andalusian stuff, if found may cause some strife,
but even harmless things like donkey piss, can also cost a wife.

Explain the needs for all these things, before your wife you wed,
or you may discover far too late, that she has a stubborn head.
Choose carefully brother piscator, but not quite as for fur or dyes,
You can always get another wife, but not always excellent flies !
