It struck me that most pictures of salmon I have seen this summer have been a bit on the thin side. Not all, but most. Is this normal?

hopper

Did you see the last two on the club web site from the Bervie, like kelts

Wildfisher

Indeed I did Eric and they are typical of what I'm on about. Big Sye  had a 15lb fish at Brechin last week and even it was thin. Something is not right.

Have you got a link Fred? Just interested in seeing.

Is that because the Danes have hoovered up all the feedstock of sandeels and suchlike ??

Ah I can't access it as I don't have facebook. I take it these are east coast salmon?

Wildfisher

Yes, those are east coast, but I've seen lots of photos of west coast / island silver eels too.

It could just be that Scottish salmon are "genetically well behind".

Anyone got  Gordon Strachan's email address?

Laxdale

Some fat and a lot of skinny grilse over here this summer. The average size is well down. On the other hand, the Conon spring and summer fish were all fat as pigs.
