Title: Tip 2 Toe
Post by: scotfly on July 01, 2008, 07:56:18 PM
This is the second of two patterns I submitted to a swap on Outdoorsbest forum. See Black Mel (http://www.wildfisher.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=8123.0) for more details and links.
This one I have named ?Tip 2 Toe?

Instructions assume right-handed tyers

HOOK - Kamasan B170 #16
THREAD - Hopper Yellow UTC70
HACKLE - Tip of hen Cree (semi-palmered)
BODY - Stripped stem of hackle wrapped

STEP 1
Prepare the hackle for tying in by stripping all the fibres from the tip down.

STEP 2
Attach the thread at the eye.

STEP 3
Tie in the hackle. Don?t cut the stem off. Instead trap it all the way down, then take the thread back to the shoulder.

STEP 4
Wrap the hackle stem to form the body and tie off.

STEP 5
Semi-palmer the hackle and tie off, taking the thread through the hackle to the head.

STEP 6
Finally, whipfinish and varnish for the completed fly.
