Title: Tamer Guide
Post by: davefromtheattic on January 08, 2011, 12:23:55 AM
I'm building a rod just now (9' #5 MHX kit from mudhole.com), I'm working on the guides at the moment and have deviated from the kit plan. I've gone for fuji single legs instead of the snakes and I'm trying to decide whether to put a taming guide on it. Does anyone have any experience of these they could share?

Thanks,

Dave

Sorry, I put that really badly last night. I didn't really mean it as a rod building question, I was asking if anyone uses any rods with a tamer guide and how they perform.

(If anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about it's an extra stripper guide about 4 in away from the first stripper. Apparently it's meant to keep the line straighter running through the guides and prevent ''line slap'' (which I suffer badly from). It looks weird, which is perhaps a reason for manufacturers omitting them from a design. I'm not interested in the rod looking good, i want the best possible performance)
