Title: Guide Spacing
Post by: bushy palmer on November 02, 2010, 04:57:29 PM
I'm just marking up a Gatti blank where the guides will be positioned. I'm using the guide spacing chart from Gatti themselves however, if I follow the chart to the letter- this will place a guide just a few millimeters from the edge of the ferrule.

Should I stick with the chart or move it slighty further back on the blank?

if it is on the butt section it will probably be OK.any other position it might be better to reposition the other rings as well.say you move the ring in question 10mm then move the next one 8mm the next one 6mm and so on until you have split the difference so to speak.these sizes are just an example it depends on the position of the ring etc.

Thanks Garry,

I think I'm going to have to give that a try because it's on the very delicate female ferrule.

Aye- I doubt I will have to move the guide slightly so it is similar to that in the picture.

If I use the spacing chart, the leg of the guide would stick out past the end of the ferrule!

Thanks,
