Mark posted this link in one of his reports, it deserves a topic of its own.

Well worth a read.

it's certainly interesting. although i'm no instructor i would suggest he'd find casting a fly line easier if he took "the wrist out of the cast" too....

I did think that myself Dave, although even Paul Arden will tell you a bit of wrist is useful in a roll cast.

This is one of the simplest and most useful tips I've read, from the same site.. A knot tied to your leader for a quick indicator, I've used it when spider fishing, even with the tags cut off it still shows up well and makes a very delicate indictor.
I tie 4 or 5 knots onto the end of my French leader with tags cut off. Shows up better than mono indicator, floats well if you add muclin, and is lightweight enough to not effect the leader when holding it off the water. I always carry a small length of bright orange backing with me now

He mentions Joe Humphreys in the article. Now this guy is a fantastic angler and was onto long leaders before it was fashionable, no 2" bobbers for him.
Here's a good video

That's a good site will have to explore that more

He has some good ideas for sure. Not all of them work, in my mind anyway, but it's refreshing stuff.
I like the American attitude to fly fishing , they fish what works. In this country we seem to be more concerned with following unwritten rules on French,Spanish,Czech blah blah blah
Who cares, just do what works.

exactly! far more progressive. and it's not just UK fly fishers; it's the entire UK angling scene
