Title: Vice Base Station
Post by: gasman on December 31, 2009, 06:23:07 PM
I have been having trouble clamping my vice to the table at the fly tying club. This is due to the shape of the edge of the table. I have been looking on the net to see what is available, but the price of what is on the market is over the top. So I made my own. This is a prototype. Also swmbo likes it nice and tidy.

Thank for your comments.
I  was just watching my daughter having her bed time snack. She has this snack on a try with a bean bag on the bottom of it. It moulds to you leg.
Sat the base on top of the try. I can now tie any where in comfort.  :8)

Looks very similar to my JVice base

Great - much better than a clamp or a traditional pedestal!

It is  similar Aliferste. I like the recesses. Thanks for the idea.
And I glad to say that this is made in Scotland.   :worms

I have made some adjustment to the vice base, after talking to people from the fly tying club and the casting club.

Hi Gasman,

I saw this thread before and meant to ask but I was wondering why you routed the two circles and the rectangle in the later model.

Are they just recesses for hooks, beads etc,. ?

Hi guest
Yes they are recessed for hooks, beads etc.

I have made another fly tying station

All the best
Gary.

It's something like your latest I'm hoping to knock up as a bit of a prototype.
