Title: Might be an interesting watch on PBS America
Post by: Part-time on June 20, 2018, 01:40:02 AM
I was watching the PBS America documentary channel last night and saw a trailer for a programme called Ultimate Restorations. Something about restoring railway rolling stock - not my kind of thing but my interest was sparked when they mentioned the restoration was of the last "Fish Car". Apparently the game & wildlife service used them to move fish all over the US as part of a national stocking programme which I'm sure John Gierach mentions in some of his books.  From the trailer it looks like there may be a bit on the history of the game & wildlife service stocking trout and other species for fishing all over the US. It's on this evening (Wednesday) at 7.50pm.

There is a huge amount of stocking going on. I was surprised to see that in BC and on Vancouver Island many of the rivers had hatcheries for stocking
