Title: Reel stuck on reel seat
Post by: shanksi on May 12, 2008, 08:48:18 PM
Going out on Saturday with a mate and his pal fancied trying out fly fishing so offered the use of a rod I had got as a freebie from Total Fly Fisher magazine and put an Okuma Airframe on the rod tonight.  The reel is now stuck on the reel seat and will not budge.  Have put some WD40 on the reel seat but no sign of it moving.  Any suggestions how to loosen this?  Thanks.

Is it the knurled screw fitting which has seized, Ian?

If so, you could try taking some pressure off it by gripping the sliding ring and pulling it toward the cork, whilst trying to turn the screwed part.

Heating the threaded ring with a lighter would be another option. Obviously you would need a cloth to grip the heated ring.
