Title: Flat Tinsel trouble
Post by: bloodybutcher on July 31, 2009, 01:57:11 PM
I am fairly new to fly tying and having trouble tying flies like the Butcher which require flat tinsel to wound around the hook shank.  I have problems getting the wraps started and making the beginning and ending tidy, literally just have loose ends that I press down which I assume isn't correct.

Any tips/hints would be appreciated.

Thanks for the replies gents, I think I will give a combination of varnishing the thread and cutting a taper in to the end of the tinsel a go, hopefully that will sort things out.
