Bit of light hearted end of season post.
How many of the "famous" names wield the rod. Must be some surprizes out there.
I know stacks but I will start with a few to get the ball rolling.
All musicians
Eric Clapton
Roger Daltrey
Greg Lake
Chris Tarrant.....tosser
David Seaman.......footballer
Bernard Cribbens......actor
That cricket bloke who likes cigars and done the shredded wheat adverts.
Ex forum member lochgarry worked as personal chef for Ian botham on one of his fishing trips (think it was the Spey) all he wanted all week was bacon butties and someone to carry his fishing bag, sounds perfectly normal to me!!
Gazza was/is a keen fly fisher
Billy Connolly - occupation - the funniest man on the planet
Bernard Cribbins, Paxton Can't remember his 1st name
Robson Green, I'll get my coat
What about the fonze, Henry Winkler/ Winkleman?
Perhaps the most famous of all - J.R. Hartley. :D
I watched a documentary last night about darts and Eric Bristow said he started fly fishing to try to get back his throwing rhythm after getting "dartitis". ( I always thought this was a made up title for "used to be good" but i went from almost County level player to couldn't even hold a dart in a couple of months! Weirdest thing.
Many golfers enjoy a bit f fly fishing. Right from Jack Nicklaus to Tigger. Faldo started on the Test.
A.
Jeremy Paxton

Then there is that other great spinner - Charlie Whelan (Gordon Brown's spin doctor) . He actually has (or had) a fishing business on The Spey. "Spinfish" or something of that ilk.
greg lemond (cyclist)
joe brown (not the banjo one...! mountaineer)
yvon chouinard (mountaineer)
George bush (senior, not the stupid one)
The late Sir Michael Hordern was a very keen fly fisher as well as a great character and voice actor.
Ally Bain .... Musician
Jeremy Paxman
Nick Hancock..."Comedian" ?
Dame Kiri te Kanawa,
Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn in the LOTR movies)
LotR: FotR LE - Viggo Goes Fishing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Esqk5ispuuE#)
C'mon guys you missed the most important one of all.
And I know because we were in the same fishing hut for lunch once.
Joanna Lumley
Wouldn't mind "wetting a line" with Jane Seymour.
Stan Headley
Jimmy Carter. When asked what he was going to do when he ended office said, "I think i'm going to learn to be a really good fly-fisherman." Think he had a troot lake on his ranch, just like the big yin
