Title: Colonel Blyth salmon fly
Post by: Tyro on December 11, 2016, 04:46:47 PM
Thought I would try something a bit different. This is an attempt at one of Davie McPhail's recent flies.

Thanks for that. Here is an attempt at a Dee style flee. The wings are not right and the head is too big but I'll give it a swim in the Spey in June.

Those Spey flies are things of beauty. I hope to progress to such standards but it's no easy :D Still it keeps me busy until the fishing starts again.

I like that  :)
Go for a slimmer body and the wing should sit nicer (not that it is that bad!) and it will make for a smaller head.

Your right. Looking at it afresh the body looks quite fat. I'll take another ply out of my wool next time.
