Title: Gloomy at Fonah Bay, Rescobie Loch
Post by: Wildfisher on April 28, 2023, 04:39:47 PM
This afternoon. Home of big, trout and monster pike.

Drone - DJI AIR 2S

Rescobie is just a few miles from home and I  fished it a lot in the 1970s. It can be the very definition of dour, probably due to the phenomenal natural feeding in this alkaline, shallow loch. Has weed and algae issues in summer.

Speaking to my cousin Tam the other day who has returned to fly fishing after a 2 decade hiatus. He had a 7 1/2 lb brownie last week.  :o

Used to catch small perch on the fly there. Nearby Balgavies held big perch, had them up to 2 1/2 lb back in the day. No fishing there nowadays.

I had one about 3/4lb on a PTN when fishing for troots about 15 years ago from Rescobie and I've seen the Osprey grab a fish about a pound from Balgavies, I do like Perch fishing, I intend to have a day in a boat on Rescobie and just fish for the Perch with fry patterns.
