I tied up a few DHE using the revised tying:

DHE 2.0 (Deer Hair Emerger 2.0) - tied by Hans Weilenmann

Was just wondering if anybody else has tried these and how robust are they? I suspect they will not last as long as the original tying.

It's fine Robbie and so quick to tie. You can knock up 1/2 doz in no time flat.

This is a great example of the kind fly tying pattern evolution that imo we should all aspire to. Keep it simple, design and modify as a result of experience during use.

Cheers Fred,

It is a lot easier and quicker to tie. If it holds up to a few fish all the better  :D

I have DHE's that are blunt, they still look fine, they pop up like new in the steam of a kettle.

Eh? What's that all mean Alan, I have a community of dhe's nearing retiral !

10 mins from now you will be amazed, boil a kettle, when you see steam hold(with a pair of scissors) your geriatric DHE over the steam for one second, watch it return to youthful vigour before your very eyes :8)

Ah, nice one. A sauna for flees

During the EOSS I gave a DHE 2.0 a try, it stood up to several fish without much damage. As its so much quicker to tie, I'll be sticking with the new version
