Expensive yes, but easy enough to make your own

Thanks all for the suggestions. The groundsheet isn't full of holes or anything like that It's just that on wet ground it oozes very slowly so a foot print mat may be the answer - or this visqueen..

Buy a roll of medium gauge clear plastic sheeting, just cut off what you need as you need it, ie a new piece each trip, cheap as chips and last you a life time, handy too for cloches in the garden ;) You can get a bit around 1k/2m for the price of a footprint. If your not proud that is  :8)

Guddler

I've never tried this but it seems that double glazing film is used by some as a cheap alternative to manufacturers own grounsheet protectors.

This stuff is about £7 for a 5' x 13' sheet and is supposed to be slightly tougher than most plastic sheeting, although it's not going to recover my shredded coldframe as Buanán points out.  :D
