I've been harvesting the feathers from around the preen gland of woodcock. There are less than on ducks, about 8, and they have a different structure to CDC but apparently the same bouyant properties.

Tied some F-fly types



And there is a pattern in a recent T and S from France with the feathers tied along the shank which I will try. Any other suggestions?
