I tend to use sedge and buzzer type hooks because I feel the wider gape hooks better.  Big Ian and Tommy were telling me today that it leaves too much of the hook bare to put off the fish and they both  catch a lot more fish than me.

Does anyone else prefer wider gape hooks and get good results with them?

One of my favourites is the B160 which is short shank so has a wide gape for it's size! Not only do they hook well but also keep the fish on.

I just love wide gape hooks and tie on some of the mustard barbless. I find that they are great for setting the hook well and its easier to C&R as the hook is easier to handle with my foreceps without removing the fish from the water.

Eh ......PISH

I am not against wide gape hooks, infact some of my best friend have a wide gape.
Those V 2200 suck the big one though.
Avoid like you would a big steaming dog jobby in the street.

Your quite keen on them then
