Part-time

Might be worth giving John part time a shout for advice on batteries dave, the estate have quite a few for different things so he might be well placed to say which ones are the best, most reliable etc

Glad you have sorted out a charger Dave - no pike on Morlich will be safe now, even if you only have an hour to spare :)

As Andy says, we have plenty at work but to be honest I never pay the setup that much heed so couldn't give you any advice about them - all leisure type batteries but no idea about whether a specialised charger is needed; the chargers used I'd guess are at the more industrial end of the scale. I can take a closer look next week when I'm passing.

cheers John! should come in quite handy on a couple of other lochs, too....   :8)

Cetk or similar every time, let's you leave the battery on charge when not in use and "conditions" the battery. Your battery will last longer and hold charge better. Been there with standard chargers, but ended up with a Ctek definitely money well spent.

The Ctek MSX5.0 is the one I have, and also the one Tayna use in their own workshops.

thought you might be interested to see the DIY transom i made. anything more than the most cursory of glances will explain why i'm a biologist/ mountaineer/ pen-pusher and not a plumber, carpenter, electrician or anything remotely useful......

Make sure you have a shock cord from outboard to canoe in case it "falls off"

P.S. Was out in the hut & I have a spare one made up which would be ideal for the lighter Minn Kota you can have it if you want.

Dave,

I used the battery from my caravan which is a drivetec battery 90ah. We could have waterskied on east bee with it in September.
The charger I use is from Halfords and was about £30. I think it said it is an intelligent one and I think can be used on car and leisure batteries.
