sounds like a neat bit of kit, will look forward to the reports it features in.

It's ok we understand.

As for the lightweight boat do you have a deathwish? or is this just a wind up. Has April 1st come early? If it is not get a float tube & be done about it.

I did wonder. Looks like a death trap.

Bet you have a real hoot with it. It will open up all sorts of new possibilities for your fishing.  :8)

No April Fool. The Alpacka Packraft is a serious bit of carefully constructed kit and as I mentioned earlier some (admittedly brave) people have made pretty adventurous journeys in them.

I passed on the prospect of a float tube because I am not up to carrying that much weight the several miles and 1000ft climb to the lochs where I want to fish. The idea is not to fish from it but to use it to get to some small islands around which the trout always seem to rise.
Really, I am not planning to copy this:

I'm sure it will pay off.I'm sure we have all fished a Loch and thought if only I could get out there.
And as for the safety issue. You have you life jacket so should the worst happen you will be OK. Maybe one of those space blankets in the rucksack just in case.. ❓

these are indeed serious pieces of kit and are regularly used for challenging expeditions in some of the remotest parts of the world

they are far lighter, pack much smaller and are better constructed than the vast majority of float tubes (reflected in the price, but you get what you pay for...)

you couldn't do this with a float tube

and this gives you an idea of the fishing potential

Great wee film there Dave.  :8)

Looks like single skin construction ?  How many chambers for the air ?  Certainly easy to carry about but maybe a bit suspect in a wind but not a killer on a river.  Americans certainly use their tubes on big rivers.

try putting your bike and a pack on your tube Vaughan. and at least two chambers, since you ask.
