This is a fly I know only as the Orvis Nymph, I?m not sure if that?s its correct name. I am sure that it has caught me a lot of fish on stillwaters over the years. I have used white baby wool for the thorax here, but you can use pretty much anything white.
I normally fished this fly on the point with the Heron Herl Buzzer on the dropper.

Instructions assume right-handed tyers

HOOK ? Drennan Specimen Chrystal #10
THREAD ? Black UTC 70
RIB ? Fine Oval Silver
BODY ? Peacock Herl
THORAX COVER ? Any Dark Feather Fibre
THORAX ? White Baby Wool

STEP 1
Attach the thread and wrap towards the bend. Catch in the rib as you go.

STEP 2
Wrap the thread back up to the shoulder. Catch in the Peacock Herls as you go.

STEP 3
Twist the Herls into a rope and wrap to form the body.

STEP 4
            Follow with the rib.

STEP 5
Tie in the thorax cover as shown.

STEP 6
            Tie in the baby wool

STEP 7
Wrap to form the thorax and tie off.

STEP 8
Pull the thorax cover over and tie off.

STEP 9
Whipfinish and varnish for the completed fly.
