Hello all i bought a few different colours of marabou a while ago.I tied up a few emerging dry flies with it.But have been trying to think of ways of trying to use some up.Been thinking about incorporating some into my nymphs & add a wee bit movement.I know its quite a bulky & fairly brittle material.So looking for a few pointers or pictures if possible.Cheers

This search will give you a lot of flies that use marabou, just click on whatever you find interesting;

Fishtales wow robust do you find the marabou tail.Wondering if it would be best to use something else for the tail.Do you find it's a good river pattern as i only fish rivers now .Cheers

I've never noticed any problems with it. Don't make the tail too long or it wraps around the bend of the hook; too short and it doesn't have enough movement. When I used them it was on lochs and reservoirs but I don't see why they shouldn't work on rivers too. When tying the plume in wrap it around the tying silk before wrapping it up the hook shank for the body, this makes it stronger and more resistant to fish teeth. I used them in green, olive, brown and pink :)

You can see them in this picture of an old fly box of mine, left side.
