Looking to buy a new net for the coming season. It has to be big enough to handle a decent Don trout, have a reasonable length handle, be suitable for getting up on my back out of the way – with a magnetic clip?  Also need advice on where  to buy net and clip.

Thanks in advnace!

I've been using this for a few years now. http://www.flytackledirect.co.uk/Home/McLEAN/Telescopic-Boat-Bank-Net/Detailed-product-flyer.html

It hangs on my back from the net frame where it meets the handle, so folded it is only 26". Don't forget to use a lanyard as well as a magnetic release Fred, or you'll go through a lot of nets.

The one I use which has been faultless for the last 8 years or so is the Orvis
http://www.orvis.co.uk/store/product_choice.asp?pf_id=318T&dir_id=441&group_id=446&cat_id=5026&subcat_id=5437&feature_id=16

That looks good. How  strong is the coiled lanyard (I like that idea) and how far does it extend?

Garry, check out the link in my previous post. I've been using a McLean weighnet for about 5 or 6 years. It is bombproof, telescopic and by far the best trout net I've used.

Alex, it's not clear in that link if that's a weigh net.  That would be an added bonus.

Here is a better view and description of the one I use

...and here is a photo of me using it (the fish were lined up under the rocks on the far side).

Alex, I'm still not clear if  that is the same net as
