I suspect that there are more than a few of you who, like me, have developed a healthy addiction to that modern phenomenon known as “The Fishing Forum”…. a great way to spend a winter’s night when you know you should really be doing something more productive…. but still far more worthwhile, far more entertaining than watching the telly!

Clotho, Artemis, Lachesis and Atropos were the Greek Fates. Clotho spun the thread of life, Artemis measured it and Atropos finally cut it. The Romans knew them as the Parcae; Nona, Decima and Morta. In Norse mythology they were the Nornir (or Norns); Uro, Veroanis and Skuld (please ignore the omission of those obscure Scandinavian accents).
Canada – Trout in the Rockies

John Kennedy and I went to Canada in August 2005 for a week. We flew from Glasgow to Calgary with Zoom and the flight was about 8 hours. We had booked a hire car over the ‘net, picked it up at Calgary airport and drove straight to Blairmore (maybe 2 – 3 hours) in the Crowsnest Pass in the foothills of the Rockies. Blairmore is only around 30 miles from the U.S. border in Montana.
A day on Toftingall

I turned off the small road that had wound its way out of the village of Watten and stopped to open the first barred gate that sat on the forestry track into Loch Toftingall. After pulling the car past the gate, I closed it behind me. I then drove the short distance to a second gate
Hope For Sea-Trout

Amidst the doom and gloom of the decline in Scottish West Highland and Islands sea-trout stocks, one loch still holds the promise of outstanding action with this most graceful of all sporting fish: Loch Hope in North West Sutherland. Upwards of 500 fish are taken most seasons and in order to preserve and enhance Loch Hope sea-trout stocks all fish of under 1lb 5oz must be returned to the water to fight another day.
